Naval Academy lockdown: Midshipman shot after false threat sparks seven-hour search

A U.S. Naval Academy midshipman was shot by security forces during a seven-hour lockdown triggered by a false threat. Officials say the student, sheltering in place, mistook an officer for the suspect and struck the officer, who then fired. The midshipman was airlifted to a trauma center and is stable. Maryland officials said there was no credible active shooter. The lockdown ended just after midnight.
